Marcè Nixon-Washington is constantly observing and inevitably influenced by the diverse narratives of individuals and communities. Marcè views art as a vessel for expression and collective healing. Public art and museum walls remain places that hold these diverse narratives and allow for shifts in perspectives. She uses art as a way to visually document and preserve personal, historical, and cultural truths; in response to the frequent burning of African American History throughout the Jim Crow Era.

Marcè Nixon-Washington is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in public and ceramic arts. She is currently working towards her BFA at West Virginia University with a focus on Africana Studies. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, she is constantly observing and influenced by the diverse narratives of individual people. Marcè works as a teaching artist in several communities around the city of Pittsburgh.
